A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to do a "Green Earth" photo shoot in Nunda, NY. It was a fun shoot - complete with awesome makeup, fall colors, and a horse.

The makeup was done by A Mandaline's Makeup, and the models are Zachary Coffey and Amy Wood. These are a few of my favorites - hope you enjoy!

Today, October 22, 2010, my newest nephew entered the world. He was 9 lbs. 2 ozs. and is definitely quite the little chunker. His name is officially Boris Revello Calhoun III, but since Anthony and I aren't quite huge fans of the name Boris (or the Third part), we'll either call him Chase or find another nickname. He was chillin' out the whole time we visited, and unfortunately, we couldn't get him to open his eyes for us. I'm sure there will be more photos coming soon, especially some with Chase and his sister. Hope you enjoy!!!

I've been working on something for the past couple days...it took me a little longer than it might have just because I haven't worked on this particular type of craft project in a long time. Anyhow, I bought a pattern for $3.99 (ok actually mom bought it for me) from PolkaDotPosh on Etsy. I thought it would be a great gift to make for all my friends who are expecting, so I gave it a try. Here's how it turned out:

Rochester Theatre - Geva

So today we visited Geva Theatre in downtown Rochester. Those of you from the area know what a great theatre experience this place is - I remember going there as a child to see A Christmas Carol with my grandparents. Although there was a lapse in my theatre-going experiences during my teens, I've definitely rediscovered my love for it and have seen many more shows since then, not only at Geva, but all over Rochester. We stopped at Geva for a meeting this afternoon, and of course I took some shots to kill time. The second and third photos are displays for the show Amadeus, which just closed on Sunday. Winter Settles On The Lake...

A Few Christmas Pictures...

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I hope you all had a safe and happy holiday. We had a nice day up here in Rochester. The weather was much more Christmas-y than we usually get. The temperature hovered right around freezing all day and there was actually a fair amount of snow on the ground. Usually, we're lucky if we even get a dusting of snow for Christmas.

Our day started early; Sarah got up to stuff the turkey (affectionately dubbed "Tom") and I baked a breakfast casserole for us to snack on until our official Christmas breakfast (we don't all get up at the same time). After breakfast, we opened our presents and then Sarah and I played some duets on the piano.

Around 3 p.m., Grandma and Grandpa Uebel came over and we opened gifts with them. Then one of our friends came over to have Christmas dinner. We had the works: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, jellied cranberry sauce (a favorite on the Uebel side, and of mine), we also had Christmas tree bread and green beans with almonds. I'm sure I forgot something, but needless to say, it was a feast. Apple, Pumpkin and Cherry pie finished off the meal.

And now that the day is coming to a close, we've decided to relax. The old version of "A Christmas Carol" is playing on T.V. right now, so our family is watching that. All that turkey made us lazy and tired. =D

So without further ado, here are some pictures from the day. My family patiently put up with me taking a picture every 2 seconds. I don't have many of the present opening only because I've become the designated "Santa" and I hand out the gifts. It's hard to take pictures and hand out gifts at the same time.

We lit the final candle on our Advent wreath. This candle is called the Christ candle and can represent purity and love.

Miss Kelly got all festive for Christmas as well. Check out her little ribbons! She enjoyed giblets for breakfast as well.

A close up of our coffee cake (aka. Swedish Tea Ring). It's a Christmas tradition, we (Sarah and I) refuse to let mom make anything else for Christmas breakfast. Another tradition is for Dad, Sarah and I to mix up the icing and drizzle it over the coffee cake. We then take candied cherries and walnuts and put those on as well.

The rest of our traditional Christmas breakfast includes grapefruit.

Mmmm. That's how good it is.

My final picture. It's Dad with his new Rodney the Reindeer!!! There's sort of a story behind this. One thing I always remember is how Dad has a little Rodney Reindeer ornament that he always puts on the tree. So when I walked into the store and saw this big Rodney, I had to get it for him. (Even though I'm sure it's one of the most useless gifts ever).

So that's all I've got for now! There might be more on our other camera, but hopefully these pictures gave you a little glimpse into our day.

Christmas Tree...

So now, we wait for this big storm that we're supposed to get. Apparently, there will be a foot of snow on the ground by 7 a.m. Sunday morning. Who really knows? It's snowing pretty good right now, but we'll see what happens.

If it snows enough, I'm going to make a snowman. =D and I will take pictures of this Winter wonderland we're expecting.

Stokoe Farm...

We took our annual trip to Stokoe Farm this past Friday. It's a tree farm about 20 minutes from our house. We go there every year even thought we don't buy a real tree anymore. (Mom is allergic) But we still take a trip out there and this year we took the dog.

Canadice Lake

So my adventure this week was to take a trip down into the Finger Lakes. I drove to Canadice Lake and shot some photographs around that area. I also took time to walk a little ways along the trail that runs along one side of the lake. It is so beautiful down there; and so quiet. It was amazing. I saw several deer along the way as well.
These pictures aren't necessarily anything spectacular. They could have turned out better. But take a look anyways, and tell me what you think.

Hey All,

Normally, I wouldn't post a picture like this up here. But I just thought it looked absolutely amazing. (Props to my awesome friend, Rachel Muller, for assisting me in the taking of this picture)
The story behind the costume is: The Harvest Jamboree!!! We had a Fall festival this weekend at our church, and in the spirit of looking cool, I was a pirate.
I think I looked quite stunning. My dad said he should've gone with me as my bodyguard because I was too beautiful in my piratey-ness. Love ya, Daddy. :-)

so I have the most amazing small group leader at church... her name is Lori and she pretty much rocks. Well anyways, I had a chance to go out to Highland Park with her and take some pictures with this sweet new camera she got. hmmmm, well, I guess we'll see about that. Does anyone actually believe that blogging can save America? How is that actually possible? Well, I'm not writing this to answer those questions, I'll leave it up to you to form your own opinion.

According to Wikipedia (a great source of useless information and definitions), a blog is defined as a website "where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

The term "blog" is a contraction of "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog."

Well, I guess that says a lot.

If you look a little farther down the Wikipedia page that defines blog, you can find that blogs have been a great advantage to politics/politicians. News services and political candidates have used their blogs to help America form opinions. Weblogs have also been the center of scandals, but I won't discuss that here as I don't want anything nasty to come up (and I know we all have strong opinions on that). Aditionally, several media personalitites have used blogs to connect with their audiences, foregoing traditional radio broadcasts.

On the practical side, blogs have been used to convey information during terror attacks (9/11), and during natural disasters (such as the December 2004 Tsunami in Sri Lanka and Southern India). These blogs were used to communicate reports from affected areas. Because these blogged articles and information can reach people faster than any other form of communication, weblogs have proved to be invaluable in these situations.

So while blogs may have practical advantages, and they allow people a certain freedom of speech, would you rather read someones opinion or hear them say it? I think that, depending on the situation, I might prefer a blog over a voice and a face telling me what to do and think. Case in point - politics. During this time of year, Americans are overwhelmed with political commercials and campaign phone calls. Wouldn't you much rather read a blog where the candidate states their political view and what they are planning to do to make politics better? Maybe not. Maybe people would be less inclined to investigate the politicians and they would vote for whoever they felt like on voting day. Maybe they wouldn't vote at all.

On the whole, I think Americans are much better off talking to each other and spreading thoughts and feelings in person (although there are some issues I wouldn't want to get involved in a disscusion about). You wouldn't really want to walk around a town where everyone wears a t-shirt that says "Read My Blog" would you?
